Artist's Comments

Started as a tatoo idea but ended up as an unusual compass. Materials: Strathmore paper, Derwent drafting pencils, ZIG pens.

This remindws me of the album art that the Dresden Dolls use, its beauiful, very organic, and very mechanical at the same time, man creats machine and puts himself into it in doing so?

Reminds me of the device used by Lyra in "The Golden Compass" by Philip Pullman... Ever read it?
:iconnexusmind:
I did, ages ago, I had almost forgot. It was a great book but I just couldn't get into "The Subtle Knife".

I've red all three, and I think I'd have to agree to a certian extent... The second book didn't seem to have the same kind of plot of the first, and it was all turned into a holy war in the third book... Still though, I thought they were all good and both this picture and your image "The Device" both remind me so much of Lyra's compass... this one more so.

This may sound lame but if you get a chance, read the Myst books. Until I read those I would never have recommended a book based on a video game, it just seems like a bad idea, but they were great! They're some of the few fantasy novels I enjoy outside of The Lord of the Rings.
